Whirlpool and Spare Parts 3D to leverage appliance aftersales with 3D printing
Even Home appliance industry is getting a disrupting update!
Whirpool; one of the big names in home appliance industry set up a 3D printing partnership with Spare Parts 3D(based in Singapore). These 2 will committee themselves to leverage aftersales service better than ever by supporting obsolescence parts and areas that face part-shortage.
They have already run a pilot project back in 2017 when Spare parts 3D validated the technical suitability of 3 different 3D Printing technologies. At the moment they are taking the first steps to scale and leverage the production of Whirlpool spare parts line.
3D printed spare parts is a need for industry
As previously discussed in 3DPI by Paul Guillaumot, founder and CEO at Spare parts 3D:
The demand for spare parts is completely unpredictable, [so] there is no way to keep an optimal amount of inventory that minimizes inventory costs and maximizes part availability. Given the widespread relevance of spare parts […] the market potential for incorporating 3D printing in spare parts management is simply staggering.
Spare Parts 3D has already been proving point and case and developed a sizeable potfolio of customers that are investigating the potential of 3D printing for after sales section. This includes Electrolux and DNV GL.
Significant and direct impact on customer care and satisfaction is one of the first and most notable outcomes of this project for the company. By doing this, the need of having a wide and huge inventory of parts is no longer logical. If something goes wrong or breaks, Spare Parts 3D can easily fix the problem by providing a 3D printed part replacement, made locally and more available to customer considering the time of arrival.
We are proud to have Whirlpool as one of our most valuable partner.
COMMITTING IN 3D PRINTING IS A PROOF OF A CREATIVE MINDSET AND LEADERSHIP FOR SUCH A WELL-KNOWN COMPANY. WE ARE GLAD TO INSPIRE THEM TRUST AND INNOVATION.
